Revit to Mitek Window/Door wall openings

We currently use Revit to design our buildings (we design buildings to be built in our factory, so we are involved from start to finish) and use Mitek to design walls, roof/floor trusses. 

This has been an issue for a while but we are upgrading to 2022 revit and to solve this issue would save us a lot of time.

 

Currently we insert our revit window family into a project, set the head height and once the design is done, use the Mitek export add in to create the Mitek file. Unfortunately, the opening revit sends to mitek, isnt the cut opening shown in the window family. We've tried programing the rough opening into the family but it revit just seems to send the Height and Width parameters to the mitek file. Has anyone actually accomplished being able to directly export their revit design and have the window and door rough openings appear the correct size and with the correct head height in Mitek without deleting and inserting new openings?

It exports the bounding box of the whole family, not the opening...(and thats not just in Mitek)

 

This usually causes issues when there are Geometries in the family extending (left/right/top/bottom) beyond the limits of the opening (example:  architraves, Sill...etc). Such families need to modeled using Shared nested families for the components and the Opening (ie. nested face based void + nested component instead of in-family extrusions) when the former are filtered out the export will capture the bounding box of the visible shared opening itself rather the whole family

 

I am not 99% sure there is no way around that workflow

Interesting. So your workaround is to delete and insert a new Opening and then this corrects the problem?  Are we talking about deleting and replacing the Opening in the Family or a Void Cut in the Family?

Physically in Revit the windows will look correct, but once exported to mitek we've never been able to get the cut opening the right size. So once in Mitek, the openings that appeared in the walls had to be manually adjusted to the right size. (I dont personally work in Mitek so I'm not sure on the actual process).

I did just test a new export, which took a completely empty window template, and just programed the width and height parameters as the RO size (25.5" x 33.5" for a 24x32 window) and it appears to have worked correctly (instead of the Width and Height parameters  being the actual window size) Next test would be to see if adding any geometry extending beyond this opening messes with mitek.

yes from my researching today, it seems that all mitek takes from revit is those initial 3 parameters, Width, Height, Sill. 

So far i've tested making the RO measurements as the Width and Height paramters, i did add exterior trim which extends beyond this initial box and it works so far.

The next issue my Mitek counterpart has mentioned is finding a way for the Mitek window tag to display the window size.... but i dont know if its possible to communicate that through the export process.

And then testing windows that aren't square, like windows with monoslope rakeheads.
