Revit Test

Is there anyone here that will give me a tip on revit test? I'm going to have an actual revit test, I just want to know what exactly they will give you, so I can prepare myself.

Thanks, but what I mean is the drafting test not the multiple choice.

There is no standardized Revit test that employers give. Why don't you just ask the potential employer? No harm or foul in doing so.

A good Revit test should not be about your knowledge of Revit. It's easy enough to establish that in an interview. The test should be more about how well you follow directions and can conform to their standards. It may also test your knowledge of their particular field (trade).

What is the test for?  A job?  Some certificate?

They will give you a print-out drawing plus a list of written requirements and ask you to recreate it in Revit, most likely a simple floor plan with Rooms, a bathroom, doors, windows, curtain walls.  You need to draw and annotate the plan using proper scale, proper tags, dimensions, maybe some spot elevations.

That is generally for a beginner production position.  If you are applying for a BIM Manager job then it can be different.

Where do you usually place the text and dimension in Revit, is it in the sheet file or model space?

Usually the over all dimensions, wall openings in the model space. But the room dimensions etc. in the sheet files is that the proper way.?

No. No it is not.

Sheet files? What are sheet files?

Model space? That's Autocad terminology.

I will very politely suggest that perhaps you might want to get a bit more exposure to Revit before you take this test. Maybe buy a beginner Revit book and read through it. Maybe work on a sample project.
