Revit Server

I just built a Revit Server (Revit 2014), and I am trying to configure a workstation to be able to remotely connect to it. Apparently, I need to have Windows Server software installed on the workstation, but the workaround is to install the Accelerator by editing the setup.ini file and preventing the software from checking for the Windows Server software. However, this edit did not work for me. Am I doing this properly? Please advise. Thanks.

Install Revit Server 2014 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher

Install Extensions for Revit 2014 to allow for workstation to connect to RS

Create RSN.ini file on workstation to see RS

Check connectivity of workstation within Revit to see RS

you can obtain the Revit Server 2014 and 2015 installation exe file within any Autodesk Revit product within the Tools/Utilities section such as:

Revit 2014

Revit 2015

Revit Arch, Structure, MEP 2014 and 2015

Building Design Suite Premium 2014 and 2015

You can also find it by searching within Google for Revit Server 2014 and 2015 download.

Is there a way to do this without having to install Windows Server, i.e., using the workaround I mentioned above?

Revit Server is designed to run on a Windows Server operating system.

there is a way to do it but all your doing is forcing it to install on a non windows server OS it does not make it work properly on the workstation OS

you may run into issues
