Revit Railing Baluster - controlling

Hi,

I've been preparing some railing that consists of baluster panels. 

Can the width of the panel be controlled somehow? 

I would like my last panel to shorten itself when arriving at a location where the lenght is not modular (not the typical panel width multiplied). 

I don't want Revit to "split" my railing into same-lenght parts, I just want the last panel to be cut somehow and not to leave blank space.

this is how the panel looks like (marked with red colour):

Could it be performed other way than drawing a railing path that has a lenght adjusted to the width of panels and than by adding for example panel that is no longer a part of the railing system, but a Revit Family (e.g. generic model).

In the dialog box to control balusters, there is an option to truncate the pattern at the ends. For a panel like this, it is better to create another type of the family, with the required dimension.

You can create a support family rather than a baluster. When using a support family you can tab to select the individual support and the change any instance parameters, move the family, use flip controls, etc. You lose the function of controlling height automatically, however you can window select the entire railing and filter out everything but supports and change the height via instance parameters.

That sounds very interesting, but I am not sure if I understand the concept. 

What do you mean exactly by supporting family? And how to implement it to the pattern?

Or do you mean creating a Family (e.g. generic model type), shape it as a baluster but make it parametric so it can be used everytime the railing pattern doesn't meet expectations? So generally combine railing with a Generic Model?

It's called a support family. Another word for it would be bracket. If you edit the handrail you can add them as a handrail type. I'll post some screen shots later.

Ok, sorry for the delay. 

There are two main ways to use the railing system. You can use the options under the construction section[Rail Structure (Non-Continuous) and Baluster Placement] or you can use the Top Rail, Handrail 1, and Handrail 2(you can use these in combination, but they act differently.)

In this case you want to use the Top Rail. You will need to create a new rail type or modify the existing one. Add your profile and fiddle with the settings until it works as intended. 

Next create your support family. There is a railing support family template. It will be hosted on the top rail. The height of this family is not dynamic, but you can control it with a instance or type parameter, whichever you prefer. Be sure to add a width parameter as an instance so you can control it how you want.
