Revit Properties Window missing items

I have a user that is experiencing a weird anomaly. Best way I can show is with a photo of a "good" and "bad" properties window.

You can see that in the image on the left, the drop-down menu and "Edit Type" button are not showing, neither are a few items in the list.

User has observed this behaviour occurs when working on two files simultaneously.

hi @Anonymous,

This mostly because of the graphics card and display cache.

Also,

In case of dual graphics card systems revit by default is assigned to inbuilt graphics

make sure Revit is assigned to the graphics card with higher capacity, may be the case.

Thank you for your post.  In this case the ill graphical behavior can be caused by the graphics settings in the Revit software as well.  To adjust this setting, please open your options dialog box and then toggle the hardware acceleration feature.  Once toggled does this still behavior in this fashion?  Please let u know.  Thank you and we look forward to your reply to best help in this post.

Hi,

Hardware Acceleration is off. User is running in a virtual machine, using Parallels 10.4.0 (last build for version 10). I've tried re-installing Parallels Tools (which installs the virtual graphics driver) but it did not help. This only appears to happen when opening two drawings at once.

Thank you for your reply.  That would be as expected running it in that type of environment since the graphics card is reduced under parallels.  The system cannot leverage the unsupported graphics card (typical on mac os in this setup).  The ill behavior may be inherited from the card currently installed under the root OS.  Do you know what card and version you are running?  To help, I have included a link below with details on the certified hardware list for revit.

Unfortunately the link you posted is invalid. Would you happen to have another link?

Thank you for your reply.  In this case, I tested the link to verify and it is working.  Did you copy and paste or click and direct to the site?  If using Firefox, I would advise using that link in IE.

This issue just started happening on my laptop this morning. No changes or new installs of anything. I rebooted twice, Hdw accel on or off, unplug external monitor, turn it on and off (both the properties and the project browser) and no luck. This issue is still happening, and I can't work now because I can't see the view name to change it ....

Help!?

I think I figured out the solution to this problem!

I simply went to the windows "Display settings" - right click on the desktop. I made my 2nd monitor THE MAIN DISPLAY.

To solve this problem: 1. Open your windows desktop graphics settings and reverse whichever monitor is NOT the main display to BE the main. 2. Close Revit and re-open it! That should take care of the issue! Anyone finds this answer helpful please accept it as a solution.
