Hi why dont make mac revit architecture I think is as important as the pc

Hello everyone.

Of course you can, but if you used to have a fast Apple computer, you will now have a slow Apple computer and a slow PC, whatever configuration you have.

Virtual machines (whatever they are) are not good for Revit since performance is very poor, say what Autodesk says and the companies that make the applications of the virtual machines. These are only useful for small demonstrations of light models.

There is only one solution to decently use Revit on an Apple computer (not on Mac OS) and is to install Windows junk using a Boot Camp partition.

Pay attention to the comments of professionals who use Revit on an Apple computer (not the charlatans and chimeras vendors) that's why we are demanding a native version of Revit for Mac OS.

Hello everyone.

Using Revit through an Internet browser is more of the same: either you have an ultra-super-fast Internet connection or you will have the same performance as with a virtual machine, and that in many cases is not possible.

Conclusion: There is no way to make Revit run in a decent way on the Mac OS* operating system until there is a native version for it. So clear.

Hello everyone.

I recently experimented with an intermediate solution between using a conventional Parallels Desktop virtual machine and the native windows installation in Boot Camp. It is a virtual machine based on a Boot Camp installation. Yes, I know that I have not discovered gunpowder but it works 10 to 15% faster than a normal virtual machine.

1. Make a generous partition for Boot Camp on SSD disk (this is critical).
2. Install Revit on Windows in the Boot Camp partition. Close Windows and never open it again (I hope so).
3. Create a VM based on the Boot Camp partition and host it on the Mac OS partition also on SSD (this is also important).
4. Run Revit normally.

Now I'm tuning the configuration of both the virtual machine and Windows in Boot Camp.

This, as you will understand, is not a solution, but rather a ploppy pirouette more to be able to use Revit on Mac OS without despairing.

Revit for Mac now!

I don’t believe anymore that they will ever introduce a version of Revit on Mac like Windows.

They can’t make profit nor benefits with it, it’s just an extra cost. Mac on Revit means, other/extra developers and support people if they want to keep the same “support quality” for not Mac version.

And also, where will the investment/implementation “end”…, other unix systems… what about plug-ins like dynamo, site designer … . what about the compatibility with Revit server,C4R?

I understand under “work in progress”, we will make it available on mac…, but they don’t tell how they will do it…

I think, they are just waiting until the majority of the big companies are used/ convinced to put their designs and documents on the Autodesk cloud.

After, when time is ready, they will buy another company specialized in web based cloud computing like Frame. Or they are building now in secret a web/cloud based version, think about apps like Revit live or Formit.

I was once on a BIM-congress where an EU Autodesk responsible was speaking. He was very clear how Autodesk the future sees. Children are now growing up with tablets and cloud based apps and that what the future will be …

Instead of asking about Revit on Mac, we should ask when will be a web based Revit app be available?

Luckily I was able to get an asus zenbook with 256 gigs which is enough to
run all of their software.
It runs way better than my Mac anyways. If they wanted to broader use our
base they would definitely go to Mac and I'm sure there's an affordable way
to program it. But I definitely see you point.

Ah, that's easy, just follow the simple steps below.

1) go to your local computer store

2) buy a PC

3) install Revit.

By by following these steps you'll find you are able to use Revit to its full capacity and your Mac will work exactly as it did before.

Its a win-win all round.

Mac is able to run Beta Inventor Fusion.

This is only after many people requested the merge.

For years I have been a user of the CorelDRAW graphic design suite. When I discovered Mac OS I found the problem that there was no native version of those applications for my new operating system. What did I do ?, instead of trying to install the CorelDRAW suite,
I learned how to handle Illustrator and Photoshop and even today, without trauma and without frustration. I spent much less time learning new applications than juggling Mac OS.

Perhaps the ones who are wrong are Mac OS users bent on using software incompatible with the operating system. Maybe we should be more pragmatic and instead of trying to use Revit on our machines, we should use other compatible BIM software (we all know what it is and that by the way works great). In the end the result is the same, which is neither more nor less than the one that comes out of our creativity.

I think it's going to be that: Mac OS users, in the case of Revit, we're wrong.

Sadly, Macs are useless on many design fields. This is Macs biggest flaw.
It is quite discouraging. It forces me to get an Asus zenbook.

Yes, it's st ill in the works. Fusion 360 is currently taking priority over

@Anonymousum, what evidence do you have for this? As far as anyone else is aware a Mac OS version of Revit ain't never going to happen.

I'm with you on this. Every architect and planner I know has all switched to Macs long ago. It's not just a trendy thing, I've had no virus issues like before since switching and can deal with all the office IT stuff for our computers. Macs are easy to use, and work great. What's better than that?

Around here, all the major architects have been using Revit for many years.
