Revit material library missing image files

I know a similar problem comes up a lot about material files not 'sticking' to Revit files when they move to another computer, so I want to make sure it's understood that is not my problem, I know why that happens.

My problem is completely missing image (jpg) files from the get-go.  When I open the Material Browser, and load the AEC Materials library, I see the material(s) I want in the list (with the correct thumbnail of the material no less), load the material into the project etc.  However, when I enable the "Use Rendered Appearance" checkbox, it prompts me that the image file is missing.  Not just, 'not loaded in the project', but actually doesn't exist on the hard drive at all.  See screen shot.  This isn't just like one or two random instances, this happens all the time.   The screen shot example includes the path where I am finding "some" of the files.  Is there another place some other image files are stored? This is the only installation of Revit on this computer.

Cool. Haven't seen this issue before.  Can you open the Image outside of Revit for Viewing?

Post the Image here. I want to test it on my end.

...do the other MAT folders have the Image as well?

....you know what's weird as well? You have no exclamation mark.

Lol, I think you didn't understand the problem.  There is no "wood_walnut.jpg" file to view, in Revit or otherwise.  It doesn't exist.  The material is there, inside the material library, but no image file to get the rendering from.

So, what you are laughing about is that the Material is using an Asset that is referencing an Image that doesn't exist, and you decided to ask us what's going on?

Anyways, refer to this Link. It may help you.

So I jumped on another computer that had previous versions of Revit installed.  All of the material image files missing in 2021 are there.  The 2021 Mat folder is missing over 800 material image files!!  WTAF Autodesk?

"Missing"?  I don't think that's that way to put it.  One computer is just more fortunate than the other.

You know, I felt like I explained the problem pretty clearly... the image files, referenced by assets, called from the Material Library simply were not installed.  I want to know why roughly half of the image files weren't installed, and if you don't happen to have access to a previous version, where do you get them?  This problem also manifests itself with families, but Autodesk provided a solution to download those from the cloud (but there is still some content missing, like steel beam and column sizes for one).  Is there a magical "fix my material library content" button like there is for families?

Is that a Haha or Aha! moment?

My favorite Gary Larsen cartoon is of a cave full of sleeping bats hanging upside-down. One bat's eyes are wide open in astonishment as he is exclaiming "I CAN SEE! I CAN SEE!"

Missing Beams and Columns? That's a whole different animal. Nothing to do with Materials. Sounds like maybe you didn't download and install the Content Pack.

It was an actual "Haha!" at your comment that one computer was merely more fortunate than the other
