revit libraries

hello my friends, i installed revit 2018 and thereafter i installed USA metric and imerial libraries and updated, if i open revit , on the start page when i click on new so that i can chose either default metric or structural templates, revit just takes me to the libraries folders where i do go whenever i want to load other families like columns or beams, how can i do so that when i click new it just takes me directly to the templates so that i can chose the likes of default metric or structural templates, please help and thanks in advance

.... you can do as follows:

To add project templates to the Project Templates list

1. Create the project templates that you want to include in the list.
2. Click File tab Options.
3. Click the File Locations tab.
4. Add one or more templates to the Project template files list, as follows:
   1. Click  (Add Value).
   2. Navigate to the project template file, select it, and click Open.

      The template is added to the list.

      The default location for project template files is: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Autodesk\RVT 2019\Templates\

   3. Under Name, replace the default template name with a meaningful name.
   Note: To change the template, click in the Path column, and select 
5. Rearrange the list to put templates in the desired order. Select a template row and use  (Move Rows Up) and  (Move Rows Down) to move templates to the desired position.

   The first 5 templates listed in the table will appear on the Recent Files window under Projects, providing quick access. When creating a project, the full list of project templates is available on the New Project dialog.

   Tip: Put the templates that you expect to be used most at the top of the list, so they are easily accessible from the Recent Files window.

@oliverkisera: Are you sure you are trying to open a new PROJECT??? Doesn't sound like it.  The behavior you are describing is exactly what happens when you try to open a new FAMILY.  If you are sure that you are pressing New Project, then I suspect your Registry is messed up.  I would suggest doing a clean uninstall and reinstall.
