Revit Freezing when finishing groups

Anonymous

I am using Revit 2016.  I am drawing up an apartment building.  My units are set up as groups and when I edit them everything is working fine.  Then when I try to finish my group Revit freezes here and I am unable to do anything including close out of the program.  So far I have been at work for 3 hours and have lost everything I have done because this keeps happening.  Any suggestions? I have never run into this issue before and am unsure of how I am supposed to draw up an apartment building if I can't use groups??

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

Try clearing all temp files from your PC and then start Revit.

if not then there might be possibilities that your hardware is not supporting Revit.

I know my hardware it up to par with what it should be.  But I will try clearing the temp files and see if that helps.

Freeze at you not seeing the dialog box to click OK to finish the group? Or else?

I hit the green check to finish the editing mode and it starts to finish the model, but doesn't fully finish.  I am unable to click anything in the software or close out of the program. It just gets stuck there. I left it overnight to see if it just needed time but it was still frozen in the same spot as it was yesterday.

So far I have just restarted my computer and it has been running fine the last 4 hours.  So I am hoping that was all I needed to do.

I had the same issue and was about to close out of Revit and lose my work. I hit ctrl - Alt-Delete and clicked on Switch User. I signed back in and the Revit menu for the detail group popped up and was able to close out and save the project. Hope this helps someone in the same situation that I was just in.
