Revit File to Georeferencing to Google Earth

Hi Community,

Does anyone have experience of workflow related for Revit Site file to geo-reference in google earth? The current workflow so far is listed below:

- Survey CAD to revit for project setup (adding site location on map as well as assigning the N/E value)

- Revit site export back to CAD and convert to KML using sketchup

- Insert KML to google earth

I am having issue with the coordinates as the geo-referencing aren't matching to the location specified when the KMZ file is imported, any help is appreciated.

Hi Barthbradly,

So far the workflow has been performed as a manual process in native Revit export, do you suggest CADtoearth as a good alternative as a solution for geo-referencing?

My issue has to do with survey CAD file conversion to KML and not being able to locate the right position when open in google earth.

Not sure I understand.  Is your Revit Project Location defined by GIS coordinates Acquired from a linked DWG?

  1. Is your CAD set to WCS or the shared Revit60 - Default Site?
  2. When you used MAPEXPORT did you specify the right coordinate system if not did you specify the System the coordinates should be translated to?
