Revit Family - Parametric lengths question

I am trying to make a table top with scallops on one edge - where the length and width can be adjusted with parameters.  I haven't set any length/width parameters up on this example, but when I adjust the length the curves don't move along with the edge.

I'm sure there is an easy answer to lock some shapes but I can't see it.

I have been able to do this by creating locked dimension parameters, but this seems messy.

The shape is an extrusion drawn in the view shown and with a thickness.

Thanks in advance

1. Dimension the Length.

2. Name that lenght as " L' as instant parameter

3. Draw shape for extrusion, No need to lock the extrusion to Reference plane..

4. Load into project and you can change length "L' by dragging arrows or typing in instant parameter.

5. If the shape of the componennt is not pure rectangle.. I would suggest break the profile in

two or three shape. Align shape as you require and to get a clean 3d, use join geometry.

Hope that would help.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion, I've followed the three steps and I'm able to to adjust the length in the property tab when I load the component into a drawing, however, I can't see the arrows on the component so that I can drag to adjust the length instead of having to enter it manually. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

- Set the reference planes in the family as anything other than Not a reference then you will see the arrow grips on plan/elevation in the project

- if you want to see the arrow grips in 3D in the project, use reference lines instead of reference planes in the family

Thank you, I was making a vertical unistrut, I can see the arrow grips when I load it into a project now.
