Revit families not loading

Revit 2019, 2020, 2021, Windows 10. When trying to load certain families, they won't load into project, received "Cannot Load Family Files...You must choose family files of the category..." error, but when using the fix (inserting using load family/opening family and loading into project) the error disappeared but the family still isn't placing. The family is visible in Project Browser but the "create instance" button is grayed out in both 3D and floor plan views. Tried using multiple versions of Revit (2019, 2020, 2022), reinstalling content libraries, and restarting my computer. Still not working. Any fixes? Thanks in advance.

The family you are trying to place is a curtain wall door...these you do not place the same way you do with normal wall hosted doors.

  1. If you want to place a normal wall hosted door, you need to load another type of doors. (Not the one you are currently using)
  2. Curtain Wall doors are hosted in Curtain walls similar to panels. IE:
    • You need to place a curtain wall first
    • Tab / select 1 panel and unpin it
    • from the Type Drop down menu; swap the panel with the Door-Curtain-Wall-Double
