Hi @Anonymous

Welcome to the Autodesk community!

According to the help document

There are two types of databases you can use with Revit DB Link:

  • Microsoft Access
  • SQL Server 2005/2008/2012

For help installing SQL Server Express, use the following link to go to the Microsoft.com Download Center, and search on SQL Server Express:

Please send me a recent journal to troubleshoot further.

I tried with SQL Server 2012 Express and got the same error.

I am attaching the recent journal to troubleshoot.

Hi @Anonymous

Your journal indicates that you have not updated to the latest build -

Please update to 18.3.1.2 and let me know if you are still seeing this error.

To make sure that the issue you are seeing is not something already fixed in one of the product updates, I would suggest checking the Desktop App to see if there are any Revit updates available. For information on using the Desktop App see the following article: About the Autodesk Desktop App

Note: If you are not able to download updates through the Desktop App, the following article has information on downloading updates through the Autodesk Accounts page:

Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi @Viveka_CD,

I appreciate your suggestion. I updated to 18.3.1.2 and still see the same error. Could be a SQL driver issue? I am attaching the journal and screenshots of DSN configuration procedure.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous

Please try the recommendations to Re-establish Unresolved References

Can you try with the latest version and see if this helps?

Also, since the error specifies login error, can you do a check with the connection? Maybe the connection isn't secure?

See windows settings - ODBC and see if the connection is verified.

ODBC errorODBC error

Also, a recommendation to try from the team:

  • Can you confirm if you have 64bit drivers installed, instead of 32bit as those no longer work with Revit.
  • In the user Data source config, check that the server's address is correct, check the password.  Also, try from the command prompt to ping the DB server from their PC to ensure that there isnt some different network issue.

Looking forward to your reply update!
