Revit Content Management

Can anyone point me to a thread or have some good ideas on how they handle content management? Currently we are an AEC firm and have an extensive library in all disciplines. Has anyone found a good way to manage and point users to identify and place the content. Users like the tool palettes in Autocad, but we really don't have a good way to locate and place our families. I know there are 3rd party apps out, any worth exploring?

Really looking at something that can streamline the process of locating and importing families into projects?

Thanks,

Jim

The best way to go if you want to get something close to autocad tool palettes is a third party application : www.kiwicodes.com/products/16-project-browser.html

Hope it helps

The Makers of VisionREZ for ACA have released VisionREZ for Revit which has a really slick Content Ribbon. It basically echo's your windows folder setup, so if you have your family content nice and organized by discipline, with nested subfolders in each, the ribbon will display your families exactly that way.

In our case, Unify is unnessary (for the price). We have a set of Citrix servers with a central library, so there is no need to have that accessable across all sites, because it already is.

Really, we need a way to allow the users to search the library from a remote session on the citrix setup within Revit.

The ribbon from VisionREZ sounds promising, but does we just need the library options, nothing else.

Any other thoughts? Would we be best hiring someone to create something through the API (or attempting ourselves)?

Thanks,

Casey
