Revit 25 - jumping when scrolling & expanding tabs in project browser

My company just upgraded our template to revit 2025 (R25) and are encouraging people to use R25 for new projects. I have been using R25 for my project for months now and I have to say I am very annoyed with some of these features that I have read are suppose to provide "efficiency".

PLEASEEEEE provide a toggle to turn on/off the jumping feature in the project browser when you scroll. This is by far so annoying. I am spending more time trying to find my view because I scroll down and then it jumps, then scroll up, and it jumps.

The other very obnoxious feature is when I add a new view onto a sheet, the tab for the sheet expands and expands to show all the views on that sheet. When you have multiple people working in a project and adding views constantly, these tabs open very quickly. Between the tabs opening and the jump scrolling this is by far EFFICIENT!!!!

There needs to be a toggle for both these features otherwise I will be telling my company to stay in R23 until there is a solution as I know I will be receiving many questions and feedback from frustrated/annoyed people on these features.  For further context, we went from R23 to R25.

@spowers ,

This sounds like a bug. You can report this at manage.autodesk.com and go to the Customer Support Portal.

Others in my office and some who work in another state have also stated this is happening to them.

When I originally tried searching why it would jump when I scroll in the project browser, I found a post from a user in R24 asking about the same thing. An Autodesk person replied to the post saying the jumping was suppose to provide efficiency. Another person suggested making this feature a toggle on/off and the Autodesk person replied they would take it into consideration. In R25 its still happening and its not efficient at all.

Is there a reason why the tab expands for a sheet to show all the views on that sheet, when I drop a view/drafting view/legend/schedule onto the sheet?

Agreed, Spowers. The Scroll-jumping is really annoing.

Yes, extremely annoying. Either need to scroll slowly or drag the slider. What a dumb feature. Rather than scroll-jumping, why not just allow a smooth faster scroll like every other app on the planet allows.

Yes, please let me switch this scroll-jump off, it's extremely annoying.

OK, great. It better on another computer. But what's the reason? I would very much prefer to use this computer as I did until some update yesterday.

yes, but it seems to be a feature Autodesk introduced back in Revit 2024 and continued into 25. I originally posted this as a suggestion to them and Autodesk moved it to a forum thinking it was a bug when its a feature on their end.

Seems like a lot of others are running into the same issue and find this feature annoying. Has there been a solution to stop both of these issues @autodesk? Highly recommend making this a toggle feature.

Has this issue of Revit 2025 been resolved?

Is the problem still persist into Revit 2026 ?

Hello all,

I wanted to update the status for this topic.

At least one of the causes of the project browser shifting\focus behavior has been improved with the Revit 2026.1 recent update. There were four specific project browser improvements, one specifically related to the focus\shifting:

Relevant Revit 2026.1 Release Notes

  • Improved stability when renaming sheets from the project browser.
  • Improved the Project Browser to prevent it from flashing when switching between an active project or family documents.
  • Fixed an issue where the preview edges of the Project Browser were incorrect when docking.
  • Fixed an issue where Project Browser focus could not be maintained when a new item was added.

Please let us know if you continue to see any unexpected behavior with the project browser shifting or focus in Revit 2026.1.

Regarding the other issue you mentioned, "...when I add a new view onto a sheet, the tab for the sheet expands and expands to show all the views on that sheet."

I can confirm this appears to have changed with Revit 2024; when dragging a view onto a sheet node in the project browser, that sheet node expands.

I have filed an issue with the specific team, so thank you for mentioning this behavioral change. It looks like there is also a Revit Idea request for this change (or an option for either behavior, which seems logical).

As always we appreciate everyone taking the time to report feedback\issues such as this.

Thanks again,

Thanks.

Need to hear it from spowers & others...any feedback for the 2026.1 resolving their previous issues?

Hi Ryan - will there be a release to fix the jumping in the project browser for 2025?

I appreaciate you looking into the tab opening when adding views. I figured the two features went hand in hand but when you have a fairly large set adding views onto sheets, those tabs expanding can build up quickly causing for excessive scrolling.

@kent123 I am the original poster but have a different user name, I do not have access to 2026 yet to see if this has been resolved. I did just post to see if they released a fix for this in the 2025 version.

The scroll jumping in the project browser is still an issue as of 06/2025. All updates are installed and there is no option in the settings to toggle this off. This makes navigation incredibly frustrating when I'm trying to find one sheet in a list of 50 - 100 and the scroll keeps jumping past the one I'm looking for.

Would it be possible to attach a short video or image(s) just to make sure we are discussing and tracking the same issue? Thanks again.

Thank you. Just to confirm, that was recorded with Revit 2026.1 correct?
