I recently updated Revit to 2025 from 2024. . Now, I can no longer modify any typical graphic settings, i.e., cut and surface patterns, for any materials. When I access the Materials Browser and select any materials graphics tab, it flickers briefly, showing a duplicate of the appearance tab, and goes blank.

That is unsettling. I tried it out on an installation of 2025 on my home computer, and I had no issues. I tried it using the out-of-the-box Imperial Multi-discipline template, and then I made a workshared version of that file, and it worked in both.
I thought it might be an issue with models upgraded from a previous release, so I created a model in 2024 from the Imperial Multi-discipline template. It worked fine in 2024, and when that model was opened in 2025, it still worked fine. I do not have time to test this with all the previous versions I have available tonight. I will make a note to see if I have any issues with the installation on my work computer on Monday, where I will also be able to try it out on copies of "real" models, including ones started in much earlier versions and with my firm's customizations in it.
I do not have many customizations or extensions installed here at home, just whatever Autodesk extensions were available when I did the installation. And my test files here only have out-of-the-box materials in them.
I finally had time to open Revit 2025 on my work machine. When starting a new project from the Imperial Multi-Discipline template file, the Graphics tab shows up as expected.
It also worked when I opened a detached copy of our 2024 starter file, after it upgraded.
In another thread in this forum, it was reported that uninstalling Revit 2025, verifying that your graphic card driver and Windows updates are current, and then reinstalling Revit 2025 resolved the issue. Your mileage may vary.
Thank you for a reply, i am going to try it later tomorrow and see if it hopefully works. Will update you later and mark it as solution afterwards.
Here everything works, after uninstalling and reinstalling Revit.
Thank you for your help
I had a similar issue, and found i was able to solve it by saving a new version of the file, and simply closing and reopening Revit. Worked for me and saved me reinstalling Revit.
So are we saying that when windows updates we have to unistall and reinstall revit to have the graphics tab work in the material browser?
that doesn't seem like a workable option.
My graphics tab is blank since todays windows update...
