Revit 2021 not opening normally after installing 2020.2.2 Hotfix released May 6

I have been using 2021 now without problems.

I installed 2020.2.2 Hotfix this week and now Revit 2021 doesn't open when double clicking on any 2021 project.  It now tries to open with 2020, no matter what I do.  (Even when redirecting manually by using Windows "open with" option and directing it to Revit 2021  by following Programs>Autodesk>Revit 2021>Revit.

Weird.

(I can still drag my project icon onto the desktop Revit 2021 icon and it will open in 2021.   (I can still go to Programs>Autodesk>Revit 2021>Revit and dbl click the Revit icon and 2021 opens.)

Any ideas?   I have searched the forums; however, I guess not many using 2021 downloaded the 2020.2.2 hotfix.

Thank you!

Failure to Launch? For what it's worth, I've been told it's nothing to be embarrassed about. ba-dum ching...

Joking aside -- and sorry for the question, but  it needs to be asked  -- have you re-booted your computer?

Steve Shell...I'm SMH... 😁 you know better than to double click Revit files to open them!  Open Revit in the version you need, then File>Open and browse to your file location.  Or it will already be in Recent Files because you've had it open before!

OK Scott....I'll bite.   Why not?   I never use older versions once I upgrade to the latest version unless there is a really weird reason to just 'look' at a model without upgrading it.  That is when I open Revit as you suggested and then go open a project.)

Because when you use the double-click method, Windows does not always open the file in the version of Revit that it was created in. This can be a big problem. Version matters because Revit is not backward compatible.   Get it?

Hi
For me, that is what I want.  I want it to open in the newest and
current version.  I work alone with nobody else.  And yes, I do realize
that for large firms, that may be an issue (especially if the team's
consultants have not updated their Revit platforms).
And yes, when I am going to work on an old project, for a remodel let's
say, I want it to open in my current new version and wait for Revit to
ask me if I want to upgrade.
That said....you all must understand.....I am a mutant Revit operator
who does things in my own unique and individual ways. Most of which
would make any BIM Manager scream and run away! LOL    (Just ask any of
the Revit founding fathers.)

I fixed it; however, Autodesk is still working on it to try and find out why the 2020.2.2 Hotfix changed how 2021 opens.   I right clicked on the Revit 2021 program icon and selected "run as administrator".

"Mutant Revit Operator"?   I have no idea what this means. Is this like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?  Do you wear a costume too?

Not applicable

When I open 2021, the recent files area shows blank and clicking on any of the buttons ie: open or new nothing happens. So I am doing it the right way and 2021 still has major issues.
