Revit 2019 vs IFC

My project has two floors as levels and a water roof as the top level. I added dampers to the eaves. I made an IFC file for the project. Why in the IFC file the dampers were on the second floor level. When I installed with Revit of the dampers so it is no longer able to choose the level when it adds. I tried everything but always the dampers were in the IFC picture on the second floor level. How do I get it right.

Without having a look at your project it will be guessing what might be the cause.

It will depend on how and where they are placed in Revit. It might depend on the hosting of the family. It might be how the levels are positioned.

Maybe if you can upload (a stripped version of) your project we can see what you have and what might be the solution

I think I know what the problem might be. Your object is below the dedicated level (Vesikatto).

What happens is that for the IFC it looks where it is positioned and then it "drops down" the element to the first level below (probably 2.krs). IFC looks for levels which have the "building story" checkmark ticked.

If you really need it at the Vesikatto level you can try to force it to that level as follows

-Create a project parameter "ÏfcSpatialContainer" of type text (make sure spelling is correct).

-Apply this parameter to the relevant Revit categories.

-For your object(s) fill in the parameter with the the desired level.

Note that the desired level will need the "building story" checkmark ticked. And make sure that the spelling of the level is correct (not sure if upper/lowercase matters also).

Could you still show an example of how i Create a project parameter "ÏfcSpatialContainer" of type text and how i apply this parameter to the relevant Revit categories and then last how i object (s) fill in the parameter with the desired level. Thanks EK

This is the standard way to add project parameters.

Manage > Project Parameters  > Add

Then fill in the Name and choose type of parameter text, make it instance

Choose the categories to attach this parameter to (Here only Fascia, but could be more if needed)

Now select the objects to be assigned to a different level

In this case I assign the fascia to Level 3 (make sure spelling is correct)

Export to IFC

I loaded the two IFC files in Navisworks. One before adding/filling the parameter and one after filling the parameter

Hey. Thanks for the help. I did as you advised, but did not succeed. I have a Revit LT2019 and it has IFC v. 19.5.0. I use the Solibri Anywhere Program to watch. See screenshots. T ek

Solibri or Navisworks should not matter.

But can you cehck you have named the parameter correctly?

It seems to me it says ÏfcSpatialContainer and it should be IfcSpatialContainer.

(two dots above the I).
