Revit 2019 text distorted when printing via RDP

When using Remote Desktop (RDP) printing to PDF or physical printers from Revit 2019.2 text is distorted

I am aware of the 2016 forum post

but is there a contemporary fix for Windows 10 using the 'modern' Remote Desktop app?

The monitors on local and remote machines are of different aspect ratio and resolution - which seems to be linked to the issue.  This has been an issue for some time but previously not needed to remote work every day!

HI Mark. I've run into this on a fairly regular basis and have been able to reproduce the error. From my testing the text gets resized in direct relation to the difference in screen resolution between the host machine (in office) and the remote machine (at home).  The best solution I've been able to come up with is a reboot of the host machine (in office).  My procedure is this (from remote location):

1. Save all work in all applications and close them down.

2. Reboot the host workstation.

3. Restart Remote Desktop Connection and connect to the host workstation.

4. Restart Revit, open model and print.

Yes this is time consuming and annoying but has been proven to work in our environment (Windows 10: Revit 2017 and 2019).  I haven't  tested in Revit 2020.

Thanks for that I'll give it a try - although it does seem a bit long-winded!

***EDIT*** Unfortunately it didn't seem to work for me 😞

Luckily I also have the option of opening the workshared model directly over VPN as I have Revit installed locally too (although that has it's own issues with extremely slow synching) but other users don't have that luxury.

I would love an update to this issue.  The solution from 2016 is a dead end, because the suggested hotfix patch is no longer available from Microsoft.

TLDR: Use TeamViewer.

Update - I am now using this workaround.

You can test this with the free version, and as TeamViewer lets you select the host resolution it seems to do the trick, although it seems Revit needs to be restarted when the resolution is changed or there is still some issues.

(Caveat: I now have a multimonitor setup were one of the monitors is the same resolution (1920x1200) as the monitor on the host machine which I use when doing this; using this monitor didn't fix the problem under RDP though.)

1. Install TeamViewer at both ends 
2. Connect to host via VPN/RDP
3. Start TeamViewer on remote host and make a note of machine ID and Password (note that password changes on every launch)
4. Connect via TeamViewer from local machine using host ID/Password
5. Disconnect RDP (Remote host will go to lock screen at this point)
6. In the TeamViewer setting bar at top of screen, under View change the Screen Resolution to match the resolution of the remote monitor.
7. Start Revit and printed text (to PDF or hardcopy) should now be correct.
