I would like to further add to my previous honest user's comments & suggestions as I care very much about advancing the efficiencies and NOT seeing the program falters starting in 2019!
- Cons: I find the command 'Tab Views' in 2019 is exactly like maximizing a window to full screen within the main program window and have all views (absolutely ALL) arranged in Tabs as a result. There is NO minimize command other than using the DREADED command 'Tile Views' to reduce the single full screen view down to see other opened views/windows in tile fashion, which actually BREAK UP every single views that are opened (whether or not they are already lengthily customized by user in Tab views within specific smaller view(s)/window(s)). ...OR in whichever directions, it could be the command 'Tab Views' is the one to be blamed for breaking up the view state which forces all views (disregard any exist custom user inputs) to appear in Tab views on top of the maximized view/window hence when going back to 'Tile Views' all views are disassembled altogether. I am very SCARED to use command 'Tile Views' and maybe so 'Tab Views' for this and the reasons I have pointed out in my previous message-6. It makes tackling multiple projects and multi-tasking near impossible.
I love Tab views and it is nothing new in this age but good job in introducing to Revit, and there is still MORE need to be done to harness its functions with Revit interface...nothing comes without a challenge! Why NOT have the best of both worlds (pre-2018’s stellar traditionals PLUS current 2019’s Tab view functions!) to maintain the dynamism of operating such robust platform of age! Here is how it should go as I think it is NOT far-fetched and it is something the program should behave for Revit to maintain as the ideal software leader!
COMMAND SUGGESTIONS for Revit 2019:
Command= 'Tab Views' (current Revit 2019, as of Nov2018)
- does NOT need to force absolutely ALL views into Tab views on top of the maximized views. It is better to tab ONLY the views that appear within the respective view/window that is supposed to be executed with 'Tab Views' commend by user.
- In other words, this command does NOT maximize the active window to fill the main/entire program window and put every single views on top of it. INSTEAD it maximize the active window to its original location (NOT to entire main program window), with it’s sub-views or associated Tab views on its top window (if you know what I mean).
- Have it to REMEMBER the view states and does NOT breakup/dismantle the hardwork of user inputs. That is it switches views between minimized and maximized with tiled views preserved. Otherwise, user need to triple/quadruple etc manually mouse grab the sides of the active window to resize for tiled views.
- Hence, why not BRING BACK the most loved small minimize, maximize & close button on top right of active window! A simple one motion mouse click does just that isn’t that WONDERFULL (not triple/quadruple mouse work by user).
- Behaves like a level-1 views Tabbing that take care of within the main/entire program window.
Command= 'Tab All Views' (my suggested new)
- This one is to replace the current ‘Tab Views’ whereby it WILL maximize the active window to occupy the main/entire program window (with ONLY its other respective views in Tab views on top of window).
- Have it to REMEMBER the view states and does NOT breakup/dismantle the hardwork of user inputs. That is it switches views between minimized and maximized with tiled views preserved. Otherwise, user need to triple/quadruple etc manually mouse grab the sides of the active window to resize for tiled views.

Command= ‘Tile Views’ (current Revit 2019, as of Nov2018)
- will tile only the sub/associated views/windows belonging to a parent active view which is in tiled fashion (NOT within the program main/entire windows, like a level-2 views tiling).
- If there is a switch view command & view states remembering capabilities (like above mentioned) between maximized and tiled views/windows it is not critical if program force the tiled view sizes to be equally/auto spaced between each other, as it can be as is for its separate current purpose.
- In saying that, can DIAGONAL STRETCHING be introduced to tiled views/windows by applying ONLY one mouse motion to stretch in X-Y axis at an instance at the corner of an active view/window, INSTEAD of having to mouse grab the left/right sides to move left/right and the top/bottom sides to move up/down.
Command= ‘Tile All Views’ (my suggested new)
- will tile all views/windows with its sub/associated Tab views to fit WITHIN the program main/entire windows, like a level-1 views tiling.
Command= ‘Disengage View’ (my suggested new)
- able to disengage an active view out of Revit program hence able to put such view outside the realm of program and into separate monitor. That is similar to current Revit 2019 program by dragging the selected view out of program and into desktop of another monitor, BUT this one with such dedicated command.
- This way we can have 2 realms, namely FIRST_the traditional program realm (within program) where views/windows able to still interact with each other windows the way they used to, and SECOND_the new 2019 way of floating the view outside of program and into the desktop of any other monitor(s).
Command= ‘Engage view’ (my suggested new)
- Obviously, if we have ‘Disengage View’ we would need ‘Engage View’ to re-engage the floating view/window back to the program.
- In so doing, we could almost bring back the traditional command ‘Cascade Window’ (IF POSSIBLE, maybe not?), since we have the minimize/maximize/close icon at top right of view/window to minimize views into tiled fashion of 2019 like previously mentioned.
Hope my explanations make some sense for readers of Revit users, for the pain to be endured by myself using ‘Tab Views’/’Tile Views’ features of Revit 2019. Some may disagree but they are my open suggestions for better platform enhancements.
