Revit 2019 Export to NWC issues with coordination models

Anonymous

I am unable to export my model to an nwc file after I have inserted a Navisworks coordination model into my project.

I am able to create the nwc file up until a coordination model is inserted.  After that I am no longer able to export to nwc.  I have tried unloading and even removing the coordination model, however the same error (below) keeps popping up.  Is there a workaround for this?  Anything I'm missing?

Hi @Anonymous

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues.

We will be able to investigate further if you send across your Revit file and recent journals. Let me know and I can send you a private upload folder.

Regards,

Hi @Anonymous

I've shared a private link to your email on the profile.

Please upload your journal file and Revit model to this folder.

I've also uploaded a collector utility to extract the files we need from you for further investigation:

  • Download the Collector utility attached to this knowledge article and save it locally on the machine which you are experiencing the issue
  • Unzip the downloaded file
  • Read the short Readme file and run the collector
  • Add the collected data together with the affected Revit project file(s) to your Technical Support case with Autodesk

Let me know if you have trouble accessing the folder and have you have uploaded the files.

Regards,

Files should be in there.  Let me know if anything else is needed.

Is there a typical length of time it takes to here back from the Support Team?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for checking back with me.

The issue is still in progress and I'm sorry that there has been a delay.

Appreciate your patience while we investigate this issue and as for the steps completed, the issue has been reproduced but we are investigating why this behavior occurs.

Thank you again for your patience while we are trying to identify the cause.

I will follow up with any updates from development as soon as I have them.

Regards,

Hi @Anonymous

As an update,

We were able to reproduce the issue in Revit 2019 that generates the warning, but not in Revit 2018.

is it possible that you can you try the same in Revit 2018 (updated)?

Please let me know if this works for you.

Regards,

Everything works fine in Revit 2018 (Version 2018.3.1.2).

I am still able to export nwc files after importing a Navisworks coordination model.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for confirming!

So this issue occurs only in Revit 2019.0.1, is that correct?

Thanks,

As an update, the development team has replicated the issue in R2019, not in R2018 and in the process of identifying what has changed in the Navisworks Revit exporter compared to the earlier version.

Hi @Anonymous

An update from the process of identifying what changed in the Navisworks Revit exporter compared to the earlier version:

The error is more in tune with an initialization problem and the Navis Core Engine has not been updated since Revit 2018 was released. We are still investigating if this could be the version or there is something else causing this behavior. I will share any further update.

I appreciate your patience while the testing is ongoing.

Regards,

I am having the same exact problem.

I think it is safe to assume that there won't be a fix before my coordination meeting tomorrow 🙂

Hi @Anonymous and @rudermann

While this issue is still under investigation by the development team, please try the below workaround for exporting, and let me know if this helps:

  • unload all Coordination Model (Navisworks) links
  • export
  • save and quit Revit
  • restart Revit and re-open the file
  • reload

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Likes welcome!

I am having these problems as well. Please advise as to when we can expect a solution.

I was able to export only when I completely removed the coordination model.

Hi @MILLERJEFF2473

This has been fixed in Revit 2019 and tested and it resolves all issues

Install latest updated exporter from this link: https://www.autodesk.co.uk/products/navisworks/autodesk-navisworks-nwc-export-utility

Please let me know if this helps with your issue. Looking forward to your reply!

I can confirm that I am now able to export a nwc with a coordination model loaded in, the nwc exporter removes your coordination model from the new nwc.
