I want to confirm that if our office upgrades to Revit 2019.2 (from 2019.1) whether or not files saved in 2019.2 can still be opened with 2019.1? our office (the architectural/structural) has incurred errors with 2018 (BIM 360 model) in the past that were suspectedly caused by consultant team members failing to upgrade after they were instructed to.

i just wish to know because we will be weighing whether or not we upgrade partially based on this...

Typically files created/saved with a year version of Revit (2018, 2019, etc..) can be opened with any point release/service pack/web update of that year version.  However, for compatibility and stability purposes, all team members who are working on a set of files should be using the exact same build/release (including point release/service pack/web updates) of the year version of the software.
