Failure to Launch?

Have you applied the update? 2018.2 is latest.

Hi @Anonymous,

Just to make sure that download and installation are all well? Did you manage to active the license before?

What do you mean by launch screen/ application never fully start? Is that a white blank screen or some error messages?

Have a look at your journal files and see if an error is reported. HERE you can find information on the location of the journal files.

For these kind of questions it might be better to post them in the installation & licensing forum.

Maybe @wongam can move it to that forum?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Hi @Anonymous

A few recommended steps would be:

  • First, do a full "uninstall" per the steps in this article: 2018: How to Complete a Clean Install and Uninstall of Revit products
  • Install Windows updates as needed.
  • Reboot
  • Use "Download Now" to download a fresh copy of Revit from the Autodesk Account that has the software.  (Avoid "Install Now" when having issues). Be sure your Firewall, Virus protection, or other security software is not interfering with the download.
  • After the download, Install Revit.
  • Test and install the latest update to Revit (also at Autodesk Account).

Having same issue.  Did full uninstall, reinstall of Revit 2018 + 2018.2. Revit still will not launch past initial screen.

Journal.0156 attached from last time software worked correctly.

Journal.0157 attached from first time software failed to launch fully - then I did repair, then I did reinstall from uninstaller.

Journal.0174 attached from this morning after uninstall and reinstall.

Randomly, Revit 2018 opened and I was able to access a file, open multiple sheets, sync to central, closed file.  Restarted PC and then tried again and Revit won't open again.

See Journal files attached.

journal.0176 = no open

dump.0090

journal.0177 = open, sync, close

journal.0178 = no open (couldn't load 4th attachment but journal looks identical to .0176)

This might not get at the root cause to the problem I was having, but due to the fact that I had 2 A360 accounts, one of which was trial and had expired, I chose to uninstall A360 from my machine.  Upon uninstalling the A360 desktop app, Revit opens without a problem.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for sharing the journals.

Is it possible to record a screencast of what you are experiencing?

We would also need additional data-set from you for investigation this issue, please see Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support

Looks like Revit is using the Intel Card instead of the NVS...

Take a look here:

Hello, I installed several times the student version of revit 2019 with the same resault. I can see the start screen but when it is supposed to show me the screen asking for the license (that I received in my email) it stops working and shows the next message:

'a software problem has caused revit 2019 to close unexpectedly'

I send the journal file

For me, the solution #1 (Flexnet service) from this page resolved the issue, none of my autodesk product would launch:

Hope this help
