Revit 2018 - Boundary Create / Edit Fatal Error

Just wondering if anyone else was having a fatal error when creating or editing a boundary (floor or roof) when selecting the pick line draw option?

I have had it happen this morning on both Roof and floor creation and edit...

I haven't tried it but it doesn't sound very promising.  I normally wait until the 1st service pack out to start using a new version for production.

Try the HotFix see if it actually fixes the bug.

A fix so hot that it may even fix your problems.  Or not.

Is it strange that you asking how to fix something, I answering how to fix that thing, and you coming back asking what "how to fix that thing" is?

I am using windows 10 and the hotfix download page says that it does not apply to my system, when I was using revit 2016 this problem did not happen, when I updated to revit 2018 using the same computer the problem came up, and now I can not open The file in earlier versions of revit

I use Windows 10 too.

How did you get to the Hotfix page?

- If you have the Autodesk Desktop App installed you should be able to receive notification to download it.

- If you don't, go to account.autodesk.com, Management tab, expand Revit product, and go to Updates & Add-ons link at the bottom.

I wanted to try in it anger before posting but the hotfix does appear to have fixed the issue.

I have to say that Autodesk picked up on the post and contacted me direct about the issue and recreating it - They were very helpful.

Hello!

I was wondering if one of you could tell me if Revit 2018 can now do this:

Link a 3D CAD file

Architecture - create floor

Pick Lines from the linked CAD to select the floor boundary

BUT is the floor created in 3D or made as a "flat" object on Level 0 ?  i.e. does the pick lines for a floor keep the 3D info?

Many thanks,

Steven

The floor will be flat on the Level you created it.

I know that.  That is the problem.  The linework I am selecting using the "pick lines" tool is not level.  I can modify the outline of a floor and manually edit the z value of each vertex but that is mind crushingly slow for a large project where the road alignments may change and evolve due to design development.   Thanks anyway.

Anything created in Revit using the boundary sketch mode behave the same.   If you need to get the CAD geometry to be your floor then import the CAD (must be solids) to a mass and using Floor/Roof/Wall by face to create the Revit geometry.

Hi there,

I'm having the same issue with floor editing freezing Revit. I'm not getting any warnings but unable to close out of the floor editor so have to end process in Task manager. Pretty sure I picked a beam for a boundary.

Is anyone else having this issue even with the Hotfix installed? It's very frustrating having top redo work, so now need to make sure I save before I edit anything.

Any fixes for the problem?

Cheers blairmack.

ToanDn, There is no Revit 2018.0.1 hotfix, but instead there is "Autodesk License Service (x64) – 5.1.5 HotFix 1" which doesn't work. Please help

The info is outdated.  You should get the latest build 2018.2 .  The licensing fix has nothing to do with the issue.
