Hello

I have a big problem, i am working in a project with cloud points (rcp files linked to the project file). The file became very slow, the display is bad etc ...

i added a 32gb of ram , and i replaced the quadro m2000 by a quadro p5000 but still having the same problem, viewing the 3d project + cloud points is a nightmare !!!

what should i do to have a smooth experience ?

actual specs :

Intel xeon E5-2630

64 GB Ram

Quadro P5000

SSD 2T + SSD 512 GB

Your RAM graphics card and drives are perfectly adequate. The only upgrade which would help would be using the following processor: Intel® Xeon® E3-1240V6. This is because point clouds will use all cores and threads available, so the more the better. yours has 8 and the one which I recommend has 20, which would make it, more or less, twice as fast.

here is a comparison between yours and it: https://versus.com/en/intel-xeon-e3-1240-v6-vs-intel-xeon-e5-2630-v4

Alternatively, you can use ReCap to reduce the point density or to cut the RCP into chunks, as you only need one part of the point cloud in at one time.

Let me know if any of this helps.

Hello

I am not sure that the Intel® Xeon® E3-1240V6 will do better than the  E5-2630-v4. Even in the comparaison the E5 is better.

And i am using reCap to reduce the point density or to cut the RCP into chunks, but sometimes even with a one chunk revit is freezing.

Hi @Anonymous

Can you send us your journal file and NFO file to troubleshoot further?

What exactly is the size of your point cloud?

Looking forward to your reply.

Actually i have no journal or nfo file because i reinstall the system to identify the problem.

"See article: To Work With Point Cloud Level of Detail and Point Size" this solution is acceptable for autocad ! there are no similar fontions for revit .

And we have the same problem with revit 2018.

Hi @Anonymous

Can you share a file so that we can take a look at it and test further? I can send you a private folder to upload.

Let me know.

Hello

I have to ask for permission to share.

The project is confidential.

And the rcp files have between 50 GB and 200GB.
