Revit 2017.2.3 text formatting/crop issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

This is a significant issue that our entire office has been having. Text regions are not formatting correctly in Revit 2017. This seems to be consistent with all service packs. If anyone within a project makes a text note the note appears to format fine, but when opening a new local file the end of every text note within a project gets cropped off.

There is one person on our project team who does not have this issue and is working from 2017.2. However, there are people in the office who are having the formatting issues with the same service pack.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Hi @Anonymous

I just wanted to follow up here, any progress on this issue?

Do you need more assistance from the community?

If the issue persists, please send us the journals from a machine having this issue and the one from the machine which does not.

Looking forward to your reply update.

Hi @Anonymous

I have not heard back from you in a while.

Please see similar thread HERE that discusses Revit 2017 annotations disappeared when crop view on sheets.

Let me know if you need additional information. You are welcome to unmark the solution and continue the conversation if you'd prefer.

The solution provided appears to be unrelated to my issue.

I'll be more specific... Every text note made in my project is getting cropped like this.

If the text note says "Lighting fixture; RE: Electrical".... what I see on my screen is the last word getting omitted:

"Lighting fixture; RE:"

If I print to PDF every last word of every text note is omitted like above. There is one person in our office who is not having this issue and she has the same service pack update as I do. Needless to say, until we have a fix she has to do all of our PDF'ing

The entire last words got omitted, don't matter how many characters?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for getting back to us and providing more details. Smiley Happy

You are welcome to unmark the solution to continue the conversation in this thread.

If it works for one person (let's say A) on the team and not for the others, there is a possibility that there could be more than just updating the software with the latest build.

  • Can you check if the text could be placed directly in the project or be nested in a family?
  • We'll have to look closer at your system requirements' compatibility with the software and the hardware tools.
  • Can you confirm if 'A' and others have the same graphics card?
  • Same PDF printer? PDF printer driver updated to latest versions on all machines?
  • Does it look alright in the print preview and annotation is cut in only the PDF prints?
  • Hardware acceleration setting is the same?

Is it possible that you share the Revit model and a journal to investigate further? Let me know and I can share a private folder link.

Looking forward to your reply update.

This is not typical Revit behavior. It might more likely be a font issue. Since we cannot replicate the problem, you really need to share more information in the form of a model or images, what PDF software is being used and if it is different from user to user, and verification that the print settings are identical.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

We are having the same issue.

Windows 10 computer, model upgraded from Revit 2015 to Revit 2017.2.3.

Text is getting cropped on one user's Windows 10 machine, no problems on the Windows 7 machines.

We have tried the solutions listed in all of these posts including changing the display settings within windows to 100% and nothing has worked.
