Revit 2016 under Windows 11 crashes with an error

I have an Apple Macbook Pro with a M1 Pro chip.  I have installed Parallele and found out that I can not install Windows 10 on the Mac with the M1 chip, only Windows 11.
After installing that and Revit 2016, the program starts but crashes with the error message that an unrecoverable program error occurred and the program closes.

Is there any workaround how to get Revit 2016 to run under Windows 11?

did Autodesk say 2016 is compatible with Windows 11?

No, apparently Revit is only compatible with Windows 11 as of version 2019.

I just wonder if there is a possible work around that somebody knows about.

Thanks, I have tried this but no effect, however I can not run Compatibility mode with Windows 10 but only Windows 8

There is no Windows 10 compatibility in the dropdown list.

Will try again and report back...

I have now tried all settings under the Windows ARM Emulation settings without success.  Always the unrecoverable error. Only on the highest "safe emulation" the program does not even start and freezes on the startup screen.
Seems there is no workaround under Windows 11.
I hope I find an ARM ISO File for Windows 10 somewhere.

Compatibility mode wasn't intended for windows 10 but for 8 and earlier which uses a different OS infrastructure. Nonetheless, you can try the following:

  1. run compatibility trouble shooter
  2. Turn off / Disable windows Driver Signature
  3. Right Click the executable and check both of the following
    1. windows 7 or 8 compatibility mode
    2. and run as administrator
  4. Last but not least >>> change the Resolution and scaling of the display to the recommendable ones 100% and 1920 x 1080 (not more and not less)

Technical speaking, if all fails, your only option to run legacy software would be to setup a virtual machine (VMware + Virtual Box)

Thanks a lot for the tips but nothing works.

Seems the only solution is to get an ARM Build of a Windows 10 ISO File, but that seems to be unavailable.

Thanks for the help

regards, Heiner
