Revit 2015 Data Corrupt

A user in our studio reported that a Revit model will not open and returns this message:

'Data in file is corrupt and needs to be recovered manually'

First, what does this mean and, secondly, what is the procedure for manually recovering this file?  This is a fast-track project and a speedy solution would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your help!

It means something added to the model has corrupted the file.  Do you download families from the Internet?  One of the primary causes.

You need to try running an Audit on the file when you open it.  I recently had to run it 2-3 times on a model and it came back.  If that doesn't work you have to send to Autodesk so they can look at it.  This means project downtime.  If you have access to a backup file, I would suggest looking into that.  The file I worked on was on a revitserver, there are no backup options.
