Revit 2009 Distribution Center

Can anyone tell me what happened to the Revit 2009 Content Distribution Center Library?? That used to the be the next best thing that Autodeesk Revit had if you couldn't find something in the "DIRECT" Revit imperial Library built-in to the software. Then I would go to BIM Objects (but you had to be VERY specific), for what you were looking for, then Revit City as my last resort.

What happened to Revit 2009 Content Distribution Center Library??? (The current versions like 2010 and 2014 or 2016 were all written in French and I can't read french, so I would revert to the 2009 Library).

Yes 2009, as mentioned before the newer versions would be written in FRA (French) and I can translate French. So I would always use the Revit 2009 Distribution Center please see the screen shot attached.

Below is what the webpage would look like, for some reason it's either corrupt or has been removed.

That webpage looks like it had links to Autodesk Revit content. 2009 is quite old and not supported anymore. I'm not surprised the web page has been taken down.

That site has been taken down for quite some time now. It existed for a number of years with no support or updates, but has since been deprecated.  Sorry.  The content that was there is still available in the installer, you just have to install an entire library of content instead of just one or 2 families.  We are looking into a method to deliver individual content more efficiently. Stay tuned.

That is disappointing, there are somethings in that library that your couldn't find in the MAIN Revit OOTB Library that made things much easier to use instead of going to the BIM Object site, that you didn't have to be come so specific. There was custom furniture like Queen Anne style and ceiling fans with lights, and auditorium array seating, fireplace styles, parking lot sites, etc. 

Those library files need to placed somewhere, that is accessible for students and designers who use these for quick reference. It would have been great to notify users of this and for Autodesk to come up with a gameplan.

There seems to be a lot of complaints about outdated software lately.

I understand that, but it seems to be a double edge sword. The outdated software or families worked correctly and the one's who "think" they know how to create current files and families those don't work correctly and the parameters aren't set. So it's a double edge sword.

If it works don;t fix it.

There is a lot of issues with the old content and , yes. the new content as well but it has gotten a lot better. So has the program.

YES!!! Why did they remove it?! It was so much easier to find items that were not in the updated library integrated in Revit. I should've saved them when I had the chance 😞 now its gone! The 2009 archived library worked fine for me.

Not sure why the continued discussion if you did not do that: nothing much anyone can do about it today.

Didn’t mean to offend or strike a nerve, I was just agreeing with the original post. Fortunately, I saved some.

As to telling Autodesk, I did already, thank you. 

And as for the french, regardless of being able to know the language, that page is also down for me as of +/- 3 weeks ago. If you have a working link I can follow, I’d greatly appreciate it.

It would be better if Autodesk would make a site or folder for this library and just make it simple. you know Autodesk has it in an archived location, they just didn't delete those families.

Ran into this myself. Sometimes you just want/need plane ole dumb generic content, this was my source. Do I REALLY need an electric range with every hinge, button and knob?...

If you're talking about the Revit  Content Libraries, choosing the US Imperial and US Metric content packages still leaves you with a fraction of the content available on the 2009 library as far as I can tell?  You can't pick individual families in the installer, only libraries.  What other libraries have the content that was listed in the 2009 US Imperial archive but which isn't available in the installer in the US Imperial package?

I agree that the content was useful, was reliable, was simple, easily accessible, and vetted.  It shouldn't have been removed until a better solution was available AND advertised.

Where is the installer to download these libraries you are talking about?

That was a STUPID decision on Autodesk part...you know Autodesk didn't just delete that entire folder of files and families that would be completely STUPID.....

@brianwclayton1969 , As I said in my first post, the content that is part of the installer seems to be much less than available in the 2009 content distribution center but better than nothing.
