Rendered Shadows To Dark

When I render a 3D floor plan, the shadows casted onto the floor are rather dark and sharp. I already lowered the shadows in the render settings to the lowest they'll go. I've looked up solutions but haven't found any that actually made them appear lighter. I attached a picture of an example.

A few things you can check:

  1. Sun Settings

    • Go to Graphic Display Options - Sun Settings.

    • Try switching from Still to Lighting - Interior: Sun Only or Sun and Artificial to soften the contrast.

  2. Sun Intensity

    • In Render Settings, reduce Sunlight Intensity and increase Artificial / Ambient lighting if available.

  3. Location and Time

    • If the sun angle is very low (morning/evening), shadows will appear sharper and longer.

    • Try adjusting time of day closer to midday.

  4. Exposure Control (after render)

    • Open the rendered image and adjust Exposure Settings.

    • Increasing Highlights and Shadows brightness usually softens dark shadow areas.

  5. Materials / Floor Reflectance

    • If the floor material has very low reflectivity, shadows will look darker.

    • Increasing material reflectance or brightness can help balance the lighting.
