Edit the footprint of the roof. You can remove the eaves there.

thanks for the input but It does not give me the option, is there any way to freeze the ridge? My rear roof is lower than the front roof and when i move the overhang it effects a number of other issues. thanks in advance

You can model the roof and the dormer as a single roof so you don't have to worry about the piece.

It will give you this option when you select and edit the roof footprint. In sketch mode select one of the pink sketch lines. That will bring up the option highlighted in my previous post.

Thank you for the response, will follow your advise. can i do the same if my gable is in line with eve? Or must i treat it as a dormer?

You can do the same.

Even if you make it with two roofs and join them together, you could still cut a triangle out of the footprint of the main one.

Sure, you can do it with the gable aligns with or offset from the edge . You can do it as one roof or two roofs join together.
