Hi!

I need to hide split face patterns from specific views with linked files. How can I achieve this?

you could try 'linework' tool

OR

set up and name views in the linked model - and refer through VG to look for those views in the linked model

Linework tools doesn't seem to work on split face with material and I don't find in Visibility/graphics how I can turn on this single split face material.

see attached

for this to work you have to make a view in the linked model that looks as you wish.... then call for that view in 'your' model

Yes, but still..how do I achieve that in the created view?
I haven't figured out a way to make one material hide (inside split face). Do you know a way?

Im not sure about your split face question (not sure you can?!)... however if it was me - I would cover it with a detail item filled region

Seems SO weird that this isn't possible. But I think you might be right. If that's the case I'll try to avoid split face further on.
If you look at the picture it's quite hard to cover it with a filled region (want the door to show)

i would do that with two detail items. one inside the door swing. one for 'the rest'..... 😉

I would create a dedicated view in the link as @Anonymous has suggested, but instead of using masks, I would use linework tool to turn the split face lines to Invisible in that view, then use that linked view to display in your model.

p/s: nothing wrong with using a mask, just a different approach

Fellas, linework doesn't seem to work on split face. I've tried it.
Also, using masks like this sure will get tiresome for many views (and masking around a door). I think it's really odd that the pattern can't be filtered or something like that.

youre not wrong .....

however given what it is - why not make two entities - instead of splitting the face? might save a bunch load of work?!

I agree, next time I'll use parts or separate floors instead. Split face is the work of the devil! 🙂

It does.  Please watch below.  In fact I tried and it works on spit faces from a link as well.

Maybe you have something else going on.

You are hiding the line between two materials. That's not the problem here. The problem is hiding a pattern that the material has on the split face in this specific view.

Be hold for another screencast.  And by the way, I too have given up using split face since Create Parts was introduced.

I forget - because I don't ever do it - but isn't there a setting to display links either "by the link settings" or "by the host settings? I would set it to display by the host settings, and then see if I couldn't turn off the surface pattern.

I still haven't figured out how to hide the pattern of a selected splice face (not the other floors).
