Referencing Detail Views from other Files

This seems to have been on Revit's wish list for years but I don't think it has ever been implemented.  Is it or is it not possible to reference a detail view/section view from linked file are we still in the primative world of creating generic annotations and dummy sheets?

If you need more explanation here is the scenario: Two Revit files, one is the building core, the other is the curtain wall file.  The CW file is linked into the core file.  All the sheets live in the Core project file.  We created several details and sections in the CW file that need to live on sheets in the Core file.  How do you get the section cut annotations that were created in the CW file to parametrically show in the Core model?  Some sheets have details from both model files on them.  Possible or not possible?

Hmm, disappointing but thank you for the reply.  Is there any indication from the powers that be at Adesk that this functionality will be implemented in a future release?  Is it even being investigated?  Or do I throw this in my "Things Revit should do better but for some reason doesn't" box with my frustrations about the never changing but always flawed plot dialog window?

Right, so beings how I am not the first one to ask about it (I found questions about this as far back as Revit 2009), can you tell me/us if they are working on it?  Can we expect an improvement soon?  Or is it Top Secret, need to know information only that you can neither confirm nor deny?  Honestly, I'd be satisfied just knowing that Adesk is at least trying to resolve the problem.  Thanks.

Our Development unit is working on this feature, to be released as soon as possible, however, we would still not have an official launch date for such updates, as these require testing and proper coding, before being sent to our customers.

I am not seeing anything in V2021 that does this.  I checked the include linked file sheets in the sheet index but they don't show in the referenced pull down when referencing sections or details.

Even if it were possible, how would you display sheet number and view number of a view in another file on the reference call-out?

Revolution Design's Workflow tools includes a feature called Autolink which can manage references to details on sheets in linked models. You type in values for detail/sheet numbers and it looks for an equivalent detail/sheet in linked models and "watches" that relationship for changes.

A work-around approach is to create equivalent sheets and dummy views in the active project so you can create a "real" view annotation reference to a local "dummy" version of their detail. If they change their detail or sheet number then it has to manually coordinated.
