RCS/RCP Files - Not Visible in Revit 2015

Please can someone help?

I've tried to insert a point cloud into Revit 2015 using both an RCS and RCP file but none of the point cloud data in each of the files are visible in Revit. I don't understand because the properties dialogue box indicates that the point cloud is there but I can't see it. 

I've tried Zoom Extents, Origin to Origin options but there is still no sight of the point cloud data.

I also checked in Visibility Graphics under the Point Cloud tab to ensure that the checkbox was ticked.

For clarity, the original format (LAS file) was imported to Autodesk's Recap and then exported as two separate files (RCS and RCP). 

I'd be very grateful if someone could advise on what the issue could be?

I recommend you try the following steps:

• Please try to link the point cloud file. Click Insert tabLink panel (Point Cloud).
• Did you try the import in another machine?
• Make sure your Revit version is updated.Check HERE

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Thanks for the prompt reply and advice but I've already tried everything you've proposed. I've even tried indexing the LAS file directly using Revit instead of ReCap and I still can't see the point cloud.

Did you try linking the point cloud “by shared coordinates”.

• Revit views: performance does decrease as the size of the point cloud increases, with the largest factor being the number of points actually displayed in the current view. Please adjust view to see the minimum amount of cloud points and see if this helps.
• What is the file size? If this is a huge file, I suggest you break the cloud point file into smaller sizes from ReCap, and bring them back to Revit. 

Try the following steps:

• Insert a point cloud into Revit 
• Open this point cloud simultaneously in Recap and edit the point cloud.
• Save the changes through the command "Save" into the same rcp file and close Recap.
• Use the commands "Reload"/ "Reload from" of the Manage Link dialog.

Hi Lakuzy,

I eventually found a solution. Here we go:

Once you've inserted the point loud, pick any one of Revit's system families (e.g. a wall) and draw this in plan view. Then switch to 3D view and click Zoom Extent. You should hopefully now be able to see the point cloud somewhere in the 3D view. By placing a wall (or any other system family) into the project seems to assist in finding the location of the pointcloud.

After you've located the point cloud, you now need to create a section view through the wall (draw section line in plan)) and in this view you should be able to move the point cloud to the relevant position.

At the time when I encountered this issue, the point cloud appeared quite a distance beneath the wall (in Z Axis) when viewed in section view. What I simply done was move the point cloud up on its Z axis so that it was at level with the base of the wall. Then when I switched to plan view (Level 0) the point cloud was visible.

Just so you know, it was a little bit fiddly at first but once you done one, you be fine if ever you encounter the problem again.
