Railing Issues - Top Rail

Hello everyone,

I am wondering why "unchecking" the top rail would caused the railing element to be delete. This is a first for me and my co-workers.

Thank you advance

Check you balusters - they may be referencing the top rail.

what are your railing settings, particularly the Railing Structure settings? i only get that error when i have no other railings in the railing structure and only have a Top Rail element. otherwise i get "Top Reference is below....." message.

Hi, someone in my office created it and I am trying to modify it. I can't get my head around it

If your top is set to host, then it needs an offset.  Currently, the bottom is set to host with 0 offset and the top is at the same level (top with 0 offset).

"I am wondering why "unchecking" the top rail would caused the railing element to be delete."

the screen shot you posted are your baluster settings, what is your railing structure set to? if the top horizontal piece is a "Top Rail", and no other railings are present, when you unchek the Use Top Rail option you will get that error.

if the intent it to have the balusters/pickets and NO top host... use what @barthbradley showed.
