"The Family Already Exists" dialog displays does not display

Recently I have detected an issue when reloading a family into a project.

We have a door with different type parameters in one file and we want to match these parameters in another file. We opened the door family through the first file and loaded it into the second file to overwrite the door`s type parameters. Usually "The Family Already Exists" dialog pops up and we would chose to overwrite the values. The problem is that "The Family Already Exists" dialog does not appear and we cannot overwrite the properties.

Have anyone had this problem? How can we solve it?

Either the Family doesn't exist in the Project or the Family is unchanged from the one that is in the Project.  Those are the only two scenarios I know that would prevent that Message from popping up.   Look in your Project Browser and see if there are two Families with almost the same name.

Like @barthbradley  mentions; the family structure is not changed so Revit won't show the dialog.

While in the Family Editor create a new Type, this will cause a "Family is changed" now it should show a overwrite dialog.

The family certainly existis because it is being used all over the model. There is no other family with a similar name as you can see in the image bellow.

The only thing I am changing in the family is a value from a text parameter. Maybe Revit does not consider this as a change...?

That actually worked. Yet It is a workaround. I am coming to the conclusion that revit does not consider a change in a text parameter as an actualy change of the family. This can be problematic, because It makes more dificult to make sure we have the same specs of the same object in several models.
