"No Curtain Wall Mullion Family is loaded into this Project" - Revit 2020

Hi,

I am very inexperienced user using Revit2020 Student Edition and working on a distance learning project. When I try to place mullions to my curtain wall, I get "No Curtain Wall Mullion Family is loaded into this Project" error message. I have searched the forum (and youtube, etc.) and found one solution  to "Look in the Project Browser>Families>Curtain Wall Mullions. There should be Circular Mullion, L Corner Mullion, Quad Corner Mullion, Rectangular Mullion, Trapezoid Corner Mullion, and V Corner Mullion. On one of these families, Right Click>New Type. Now you can add instances of that new Mullion Type to your Curtain Wall either by placing them manually, or by setting them as the Mullion Type in your Curtain Wall's Type Properties>Grid 1/2 Mullions>Interior/Border 1/Border 2 Type."

However, there is no "Curtain Wall Mullions" under my Families - it is perhaps located under another category? I did manage to find and open a mullion but when I click on it and load it to the project, it says that it already exists...however does not work, the same error message keep coming. If I go to create a new family as suggested in the post after opening a mullion type, it does not end up showing up on the family list....? Please, help, I have no idea. And the more detailed (step by step 😊)  the help the better, thank you so much in advance!

Mullions are extrusions of Profiles.

Why don't you open a New Project from the stock template and then use Transfer Project Standards to bring into your your Project the stuff you need from the New Project.

You are welcome, @minna.bowland.

I got a question for you.  Are you sure there is NO Curtain Mullion Family listed under the Project Browser?

Those are System Families and cannot deleted from the Project.  You can delete the Family's Name Types -- but not the Family itself.  You should see the Family in the Project Browser. If you want to create a Type, then right-click on the Family Name in the Project Browser and press "New Type" to create one you can use in Project Curtain Walls.

Hello, I'm dealing with the same issue. Could you link the YouTube video perhaps?
