Pull Down Menus Not Working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Good afternoon,

Running Revit 2016 on Windows 10 and my drop down menus do not work. For example, in my properties browser I want to switch between phases, the drop down arrow does not show the list. I have to begin to type what I want to select. Same when trying to add a parameter during family creation. Have to click, then wheel my mouse to get the option to come up.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance

I second this!  It did work.  Now I need to reorganize my desk because I can't see the tiny text on my high res monitor when its that far away, but this is a solid work around.

Thanks!

If you are using two screens, try matching your scale values between screens - this was the only solution I could get to allow me to work Revit in full screen

You can troubleshoot the compatibility settings and revert it back to an earlier compatibility version. It fixed this problem on my dual screens

That should help:

Go the the Revit file properties and put the check mark "Disable display scaling on high DPI setting" (see screenshot). That fixed my revit.

This option worked perfectly in my setup on Revit 2017.

Thank you so much!

I have an issue with schedules and saving drop downs. I've adjusted the resolution options to every possible setting and that doesn't affect this problem. Does anyone have a possible solution? Here are two screen shots of what I'm taking about. The content gets over lapped and I can't see the information or it's difficult/not possible to click the content. I'm on Revit 2017 on a Windows 10 system

In my opinion Revit seems to have problems with scaling in Windows.

I had the same issue with pull down menus when working on two screens (laptop screen set to 125% in windows settings and placed as second screen and additional screen, set to 100%, main screen) With these setting, pull down menus did not work with Revit at this additional screen.

I changed scaling at laptop screen to 100% and every thing works fine now on both screens. (Fortunately changing it was not a problem for me. Laptop screen is big enough.)

Screen scaling option worked gloriously for us. My buddy had an issue with his laptop screen being too small with all the scaling at 100%, so he swapped all of his screens to 125% and it worked as well. Just make sure they all match.

I agree with Jimmy (JSGourl).

My computer is setup with two identical monitors and they have worked good all the time until I decided to change the resolution settings of one monitor using the display settings dialog box.

Once I returned the resolution so both monitors had the same resolution, Revit dropdown menus worked fine without restarting anything.

Hope it helps others 🙂

Having the same problem here, I fixed it too setting my 2 screens zoom on the same value (125%), very annoying however...

This definitely solved my problem.  If scaling is at the same size between the laptop and the monitor then its a non issue.  Thanks for this!  It just happened to me today what a pain.

I've confirmed that setting the display scale (100%, etc) the same on both monitors eliminates the drop down menu problem.

Revit Arch 2017/Win 10/Surface Book

My continued gripe however is that at 100% the extended display is normal, but the laptop display is microscopic.  If I make the laptop size workable, then the extended display looks ridiculous.  Hmmph.  You would think by now that technology would be free of these types of errors.

That worked great!  Thanks.  I also had to set the scaling performance to "System" and then it worked perfectly.

Wow, thanks Jimmy.

Adjusting the monitor scale to both 125% worked for me.

That has been bugging me for a while.

Believe it or not the FIX for when you get locked out of PROPERTIES and PROJECT BROWSER panels that were dragged onto another monitor is to run a SAVE AS. Just create a bull**** file on your desktop and then go back into your original file, ghost in the machine.

This is late, but for anyone who sees this and is still having the same problem I have a solution for you. The text size on your monitor needs to be the same as your laptop and those settings can be changed in display settings. However, this means you are either going to have small text on your laptop or too large text on your monitor depending on which text size you set it to. So pick your poison.

Thank you for this!  I know this is an old thread, but my gosh I have had this problem and it has been driving me crazy.  First thought was that something in Revit was buggy abut walls, phases etc.  So much time wasted trying to figure this out.  Thank you thank you!
