Hi,
My computer crashed earlier today and since i've started up Revit again my project browser and my properties have become frozen. I can maximize and minimize them but i cant move them anywhere or click on anything thats in them.
I've rebooted and also run a repair but no luck.
I've searched countless forums and cant seem to find anything relating to the problem and revit is unworkable without these 2 items working.
I'm running Design Suite 2014.
Any help is appriciated.

I tried this, and my Project browser & properties window were still frozen after re-opening revit. I did notice my tower and monitor were slightly moved when i came into work. Turns out the IT guy added a 2TB hard-drive over night. Somewheres i read it being related to the User profile. So i went in Revit options and changed my name to Admin, and opened my local copy. It gave me the prompt to change my name back after, and when i did...BAM! My properties window and project browser were free..
Not sure exactly what fixed it, but i was able to avoid calling IT doing these steps...so thanks for the Help!

Worked for me. THANKS!
Worked for me. THANKS!
It works!!
Yes, I had to reboot my machine. Apparently my Revit session was cut short by windows updates while I was at lunch.

this works
It worked for me!
After reading posts suggesting a repair to REVIT and updating my video card driver, I did both - to no avail, then I merely logged in as ADMIN and my browser and properties manager were unfrozen.
I still would like to know what caused this problem. When I finished with my project one day, I saved it, and just let my computer go to sleep, like i do much of the time. Then, when I woke my computer up the next morning to work on the project again, the browser and property managers were frozen..

@Anonymous wrote:I have just gone through this issue on 2015.
I tried the 'successful' link and did not get the intended outcome. not sure if the same process for 2015 applys.
The method I used to unfreeze my project browser were as follows:
1. Open 'User Interface' under View tab.'
2. go down to 'Browser Organisation'. This is where I changed a preference. Under the Sheet tab I changed the preference to 'Prefix' ( i'm sure any tick box would event in the same outcome). Apply and OK.
This updated in my project browser which had also unfrozen my project browser . I then went through the same process to change my preferences back.
All working again!
This was the solution for me!
Thanks alot

This just happened on one of our Revit 2017.1 systems. Turning the hardware acceleration off and then closing and reopening the file did the trick and then turning it back on and closing and reopening the file again kept it working. So it seems this bug is perhaps back or just never really went away?

Hi there,
Another quick option is to go to the options tab and temporarily edit your username - not sure the reason this works but is fairly option to try.

DMartin - My workaround posted above was to simply open the Options dialog and close it, which unfreezes the other dialog boxes. I think this is why your suggestion works, because in the process, the Options dialog is opened and closed. You might try skipping that extra step of editing the username to save time. Hope that works for you too! Every step counts...

We just had the issue for a user on 2017.1.1 - Frozen properties pallet even after a computer restart and checking/unchecking visibility of boxes. Opening a new project worked to re-enable access to the pallet.

Revit 2016 - per one of the prior suggestions - I opened and closed the Options dialog box. BINGO!!!!!
