Project Base Point Far From Project

Hello all,

I am an Architecture student and I was hoping to get some resolution on this impossible issue I am having. My project is located at the survey point but my project base point is about 2 million feet away! I believe it happened when I was importing a large site plan and I was moving many things around but I am stuck on how to fix it. Since the base point is so far away, when I try to type in new coordinates, it says the base point needs to be within 20 miles of the start up location. If I try to move my whole project to the base point, it moves the base point because they are technically one component.

This is causing me a lot of graphic issues when I go to render and it is also causing me issues when I go to export my floor plans, saying that the view boundaries are too large to export even though I have cropped the views!

If someone has any direction that could help it would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,

- a very tired and frustrated college student

I'm not understanding why you can't just move the PBP.    Sorry, didn't see RFA you provided for explanation. I'll look at it before I open my mouth again.

I can only manage to savage the 3D model and levels.  You have to recreate the grids, views, and everything else.

@ToanDN: LOL! I was right in the middle of doing the exact same thing. What the heck is going on with this file anyways! I couldn't figure it out.

@Anonymous: If I were you, I'd also start reconciling these warnings in the project. You got sh*t-load of 'em! Some can be ignored, but others will come but to bite you in the butt if left unresolved. Just a friendly suggestion.

Good Luck

@barthbradley

Project Base Point is too far from Survey Point.  Grids and Levels were created near PBP.  Building is created near SP.  How???  I stopped trying to find out.

Okay, I came back to it and was able to move the PBP. But not in the standard way. When you highlight the PBP, X and Y axis arrows show up. If you grab the arrow tip and drag it, you can move the PBP without errors. Really very funky. Even funkier is the fact that, even though I was able to move the PBP within a few feet of the structure, I still could not enter coordinates in it with receiving that same error message. So, it's still "broke".

I have no idea what is going on with this project, but my suggestion is to use @ToanDN's RVT and trash this one. It's FUBAR.

BTW: I crashed twice while monkeying with this project. Another reason not to use it.
