Problem with expansion joint family

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I'm trying to create an expansion joint family as decribed in a previous post:

How to model floor expansion joints?

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-structure-forum/how-to-model-floor-expansion-joints/td-p/532868...

I have two problems:

1- The void lenght of the nested (generic face based) family is not the same when I associate the length parameter of void length to length parameter in line based family.

2- I can't cut the floor and the family with the cut tool when the familly is loaded.

I don't undestand well everything seems right.

The rfa is in this link.

https://we.tl/FcB8ANEFlO

Thank you in advance.

Here you go....fixed.

The void family needs to allow for cutting of host.

Ah!

Ok thank you very much @dzanta

I have already the problem described in the first point.

1- The void lenght of the nested (generic face based) family is not the same when I associate the length parameter of void length to length parameter in line based family.

Edit the nested void family, drag the grip of the void extrusion the snap onto the reference plane and lock it.  The reload it to the line based family.

Thank you very much.

I changed my sweep by an extrusion and locked.

That works perfectly.

I am not an expert in engineering or installations, but recently I had some problems with the expansion joint, and I consulted with some experts. For my situation, they also sketched a project in Autodesk and Edited the nested void family, dragged the grip of the void extrusion the snaped onto the reference plane, and locked it. Thanks to those sketches and diagrams, they managed to execute the expansion joint repair much more effortlessly. Indeed, some experts do much better in such cases than we do.
