plumb cut rafter tails

Is it possible to plumb cut rafter tails that are individually modeled 2x8 dimensional lumber (structural framing category)?  I know you can select plumb cut on a roof family, but what about actual framing?

You can model them using beam systems and use reference planes to cut the ends of the beams to plumb.

From what I can tell, you cannot do a beam system when your structure is a radial pattern.  Is that correct?

Correct. In such case, you need to use a radial array. Cut the end of one rafter tail with the opening by face tool then array it.
Or, create a curved fascia beam and use it to join/cut/trim the rafter tails. Then you can hide the fascia beam.

Cutting Birdsmouth on 2x12's with overhang tails set to 5.5" used face opening tool then planning on doing array for rests of set (We who cannot afford the full Revit aren't able to use proper modeling tools in Revit LT 😞 

I SOMEHOW did this before and was able to work in a section view but now Revit won't let me select the beam properly. Previously it showed a larger than the outer perimeter of the 2x12 as an option which then brought up the section nicely. Do i have to attempt this in an Elevation? Why is this so inanely laborious? Why can't we simply set a beam to have Plumb end like a roof? Oy vei this is infuriating. . . 

My question is; how can i "select" the cutting 2D loop or name it if (as is typically the case) i am re-editing the cut to the beam? I have found it maddeningly difficult to actually click on the cutter when my detail has other items like component details (2D elements like top plates). Took me 45 minutes and i finally gave up and made a new beam and started over.  Is it possible to "name" the cutter so i can retrieve it if i need to re-edit? 

Otherwise the process works well enough. Though the constant dialog boxes telling me i need to open another window to do simple boolean editing in Revit is pathetic. In formZ and sketches this can all be done with automatic snap to planes showing up. Revit needs to keep up with the times. 

Having said that i have used it now since 2013 and it does many things superbly!

Well, i was able to get the larger field to be able to begin editing the rafter tail . . . however, only in Elevation view did that option come up and how the fu!@#% can i know where the birds mouth is when i cannot see the layers of the complex wall my client desires (rain screen deluxe with multiple insulation cavities). This is intolerable! 

Anyone know how to do this without having to add a bunch of reference planes/lines to indicate where the bloody 2x6 top plate sits in this complex wall?
