Place an image that is already loaded within the project

The project I am working on has some images that I can see when I click the 'Manage Images' box. Some of the images area already placed multiple times within the project but some are not yet placed but they are visible - the count is '0'.

How do I select and place these images onto sheets / legends? There does not seem to be an intuitive way to do this.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

I've never run into this before, but you're right.  That is super weird.  I looked into it for a bit, but I don't see anything on point.  Your best bet, from what I can tell, would be to right click on the image you want to place, select "Copy Path".  Then you can place them again.  I just hope your images are still where you left them...

Hi FAZIOGREG, Thanks for the reply on this.

If I click on 'copy path' then what do you then need to click in order to actually place the image? I think this is an oversight in the software. A simple 'place image' button would solve this.

Absolutely, this needs to be fixed by Autodesk. Once you copy the path, then you will have to import the image again. That will let you place it.

A year later.....did you ever find a solution to this? I have multiple images in a project whose original files have long been removed, and the only thing I can do is view that they exist in the project brain and take up space, but I can't find any way to do anything with them other than purge them.

Hi there. This hasn't been fixed by Autodesk and the latest 2017 release doesn't address it either unfortunately.

That's the worst. I can see all these delightful images in the image manager, but there's nothing I can do with them other than delete them. It's like putting a locked glass box of delicious treats in front of a child and the box has only one button: Incinerate. Cruel, Autodesk. Cruel.

PyRevit add-in has a feature called "Export All Raster Images to Desktop"

It is under the Project Tab>Links

The add-in is free, and contains a lot of really great tools.

Yes, fairly amusing actually. However the idea I posted quite some time ago has only gathered 5 votes, lost in the 100's of other votes... so yeah. Maybe try holding your breath?

This has been addressed in 2019;

Navigate to  'Manage Images'

Select desired image

'Place Instance'

Hope this helps...
