Perimeter of rooms in linked model

Hi to everyone!

I'm dealing with an issue I couldn't solved.

I'm working on a project and I've linked another model. I need a list of rooms in linked model, so I schedule them in a Rooms Schedule of a linked model by name, perimeter and area.

The issue is that perimeter value is wrong calculated in my file, but it is perfect calculated when I schedule them directly in the linked model.

I have no idea about how can I solve this problem. Any ideas?

Thank you all!

Create a dedicated Phase in the future and place an instance of the link with the Rooms you need to schedule and nothing else in that Phase. Change the Room schedule to that Phase, phase filter = Show New only.

i like that idea.

how do you deal with phasing when the rooms are spanning between 2 models and different phasing?

1. Shell all exterior walls (existing)

2. Interior all interior walls (new)

exterior wall is used to create a room in the interior through a linked model.

The rooms are in the ONE linked file (A), all the calculations (Areas and Perimeters) are done in (A).  So, when you link (A) into the host file, if it does not "contact" with any other room bounding elements, the Areas and Perimeters should not changed.  That's why I suggested putting one of its instances in a different phase, totally separated from the rest of the model, only for scheduling purpose.  Thinking about it, the instance should be in a Pre-existing phase and get demolished in Existing phase so that it will not interfere with the rest of the model.

The two questions you raised should be dealt with in (A) model, not in the host model.  And I don't see how they relate to the specific question that OP has asked.  Perhaps I need more clarifications.

I believe the OP is running into this issue with trying to create rooms and perimeters through a series of links (not managed in 1 model)

as you recommended.

each link may have a different Phase and different perimeters causing the disconnect in the room schedule.

Unless OP has changed his approach, the very first post says Rooms in linked model, not Rooms bounded by linked models.

post 8 of 26 displays 2 linked models with different values for perimeters,

unless I am misunderstanding something, this is the reason for my response.

it could be a typo "rooms in linked model" should read rooms in linked models

Sorry, That was exactly what I meant!

The problem I've found is:

We're working with 3 files (COO for measurment, ARQ for rooms and Interior walls and LEV as building shell)

ARQ has file LEV as link and rooms bounded by file LEV. Perimeter of rooms in this file is right calculated.

Now I am working on file COO. This file has ARQ and LEV as links. I try to schedule rooms in file ARQ from this file, and notice that from this file, perimeter of those rooms is wrong.

I hope I could explain myself better this time.

So all the Rooms are in the link file ARQ, correct? You did not recreate any rooms in the host file COO, only schedule them?

That's right.

No rooms in COO model.

@FaVarela

I just tested with your files as well as a set of clean files in 2017 and I got the same result as yours.  The  only way I found is adding room separation lines in the file where you created the rooms, or create the rooms directly in the file where you schedule them.
