Perforated Curtain Wall Panel using Void Array

Hello,

I am trying to create a perforated Curtain Wall Panel family using an arrayed void.

I can get it to work horizontally (or vertically) but not in both directions.

Once I array it down it seems to loose the previous constraints.

Anyone aware of this behaviour. And how to overcome it?

Family file attached.

Thank you

I there a specific reason you want it to array? In this case to prevent issues, I would just make 4 voids.

I want to be able to control how many voids to array.

So, if I understand correctly, you want a fully perforated panel in the end, right?

What I would do is making a generic model containing one array of voids.

Nest it into a new generic model arraying the array.

Load it into your panel family.

Arrays are always a bit tricky, nesting them will them help to behave the right way.

How big is the hole and what is the spacing? Lots of voids can kill your model once you populate the curtain panels in the project. I would rather use a material with a model pattern and cut-out.

As for fixing the array, what @Avaris said is correct. You need to create a family of one array direction, nest it in another family (can be your panel family), associate array parameter, and array that nested family in the other direction.

If you are going to do this...don't make the panels adjustable by the curtain grids, make them a set size.

Else I recommend using the Aluminum Mesh - Holes material appearance.  When rendered it will cutout the holes.
