PENDANT LIGHT FIXTURES HANGING WRONGLY FROM THE CEILING

I am a revit novice and I have been trying for days to figure out whats the problem with this fixture.

Whenever I place M pendant light - hemisphere and disk on my ceiling, they do not hang from the ceiling like they should but instead attach to it with the rod sticking out above the ceiling. This problem seems specific to this two light fixtures as the rest work fine. I anyone has any ideas as to how to solve this please help. 

I am currently using revit 2020 on windows 10,64 bit.

Good news. It's not you. The family is made wrong. It's got two horizontal reference planes.

I'm away from Revit so I can't show you what to do but there are a couple of threads about this. Do a search here or over in the MEP forum and you will find the solution.

The OOTB Family has 2 "Origin" Ref. Planes. Pick the lower Ref. Plane in Elevation View and untick "Origin" in its properties.

We could give you the exact steps to solve this issue or you could start learning the basics of family editing.

I'm going with the latter. This is family making 101. Get a tutorial under your belt and your solution will be forthcoming. This is a very valuable skill to have in your toolbox.

If you are in a pinch and need an immediate solution, open the family and try to find the two horizontal reference planes. Select the loser one and look at the properties for Defines Origin. Uncheck that box.

I clicked Edit family for the light fixture and I do not see any reference planes. These are light fixtures from Revit and not any special lighting.

Type VV and turn on the Ref. Plane Category under Annotations Tab.

That's a different family from the one the OP was referring to. Is there a problem with that family, too?

The first screen shot is all that shows after turning on annotations. Still no reference line... I also posted an image of 3D model to show the issues just in case it changes things.

The Top Screenshot is from your Family; right? Elevation View; right?  Type VV and the Visibility and Graphics Dialog will open up, Go to the Annotation Tab and check the box next to Reference Planes to turn them on in the View.  If they don't turn on, then they must be Temporarily Hidden in the View. Go to the dropdown under the Eyeglass icon and see.  No pun intended.

I'm not sure what you were pointing out, or which one of my posts you were responding to. I'm talking about Ref. Planes though. I thought you were too.  Whatever. If my comment to you was inappropriate sounding, I apologize.  You are one of my favorites around here.  We good?

I realized that it was in 3D plane on front so it looked like an elevation. I had to click on an element of the light fixture and click Edit Work Plan to get to the elevation. It worked though by following your first instruction! Thanks for your patience and help! Very much appreciated!

You are looking at a 3D view.  Open an elevation then you will see ref planes.
