pasting aligned between families

Why is the option to paste-aligned-to-same-place grayed when out copying extrusions between families?

I can paste them aligned-to-view between families, and if I'm in the 3D view and I just hit Crtl-V I can see them ghosted in the right place when I'm being forced to eyeball them in place.  I should be able to paste-aligned-to-same-place.

Paste "Aligned to Current View" when copying between families. 

In 3D view, it's a 3 step process. Paste from Clipboard -- Aligned to Selected Levels -- pick the level. 

p.s. it's always felt a bit clunky to me too.

Ok, that works.  I don't know why they added the extra step(s) when aligned-to-same-place works with 1 click but I guess it's limited to the current document only for some reason.
