Parameter will not change what it's been grouped under in the family

Hi, 

I have a bit of a weird one. Not sure if it's a bug or programming restraints but...

When I regroup a parameter from Graphics to Construction it defaults back to old Graphics location when I load it in. I have tried overwriting parameters, saving as a new family, nothing works. When I open the family again, it has jumped back to the old spot. 

Anybody else had similar issues?

It's not a bug, it's just how Revit rolls.

Not a fan of how Revit rolls in that case. 

The other parameter made it's way to it's new group nice and dandy, but not the last one.

I feel your pain. Search the forum. You find other to commiserate with over this.  There are solutions, but all are guaranteed to have you pulling out your hair out and cursing the product.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. You're right about the hair pulling thing. This is bananas. 

So my Project has the shared parameter under the shared parameter tab (obviously) but did not have the shared parameter in the project parameters tab. And despite the fact that they were grouped correctly in the family, every time they were loaded in the project they forgot where they were grouped and defaulted to the original one. However when I created a new shared parameter under my project parameters and grouped it there too under the new category, only THEN did the ones in the family change to the new grouping. This is bananas! Doubling up of work for sure. Argh! Anyways, rant over, thanks for listening ya'll. 😉

Just FYI: There is NO active connection/link maintained between the Shared Parameter in the Shared Parameter Text File and the Shared Parameter in the Family/Project.

Which makes it even weirder why Revit defaults to old saved group. It has no relation to this shared parameter, the only guidance is in the family, yet when the family is loaded in project overrides it until you add in said shared parameter to the project parameters. But maybe that's how Revit works, you need to tell it twice, once in the family, once in the project whats what. Very annoying though
