Opening a revit file in autocad?

Can you open a revit file into autocad. if so does the autocad version need to be the same or newer version that Revit is

No. Revit must export to DWG first.

No it’s not directly possible. You will need to export the rvt file to a dwg. More details can be found at the below link:
