Notifications of Linked Model Updates in Large Projects

I'm working on a project with about 12 models per discipline. The architecture team maintains an incredible coordination schedule sharing Revit models with the client. All the other disciplines are expected to keep their models updated daily. I could open 12 models up and look for changes, which would take about 2 hours. Would reviewing published models for changes be better? I've had mixed success in setting publish settings, some projects do not have that setting even on the same version of Revit.

Why aren't you live linking the other models?

If that is not an option, somebody should be in charge of notifying the team when there are updates or there should be an update schedule. 12 models per discipline multiplies up to a lot of models and I find it hard to believe that you need to ask strangers for how to manage the project. Someone needs to be gate keeping and there should be a BIM execution plan in place. (Even if you mean 12 models total. Somethings wrong here.)

If the onus lies solely upon you to decide when to update, you could check date stamps on the files but you may find you are updating frequently with only small changes.

The models are live linked in Revit, but when publishing a 3-D view with all links visible must be set as the default view so it's visible when the model is published online. Do I understand you correctly?

I was added to a notification list for BIM managers, even though I'm a discipline lead. Good point bringing up the BxP, I'll look for it. I agree that reloading based on time stamps would result in many small changes. I've found most changes, the buildings moving, result from coordination direction from the client. There are 14 buildings and each division is in a different model.
